Pickerington was founded as Jacksonville in 1815 and was called that for over a decade until citizens petitioned to change the city’s name to honor its founder; Andrew Pickering. The city is located in Violet Township, which got its name because of the massive amounts of beautiful purple violets that bloom in the area. Rich in history, visitors can still find a historic downtown shopping center as well as many restaurants and shops still open today. Notable residents of the city are NFL player A.J Trapasso, TV actress Lindsay Hollister, and professional baseball player Earl Moore.
