Plain City is the home to approximately 3,000 citizens located on the banks of the Big Darby Creek. Before the 1800s Ohio country was primarily populated by Mingo and Wyandot Indians with Plain City being home to an Indian village. After white settlers began to take over the region, the area around present day Plain City was called Pleasant Valley. Plain City is home to the popular Amish restaurant and banquet hall Der Dutchman. Jonathon Alder School District has consistently scored “excellent” or better on the state report card and continues to produce state champion athletes.
